Source: Federline Memoir Not Behind Spears DUI
Britney Spears’ recent DUI arrest in California was not triggered by her ex-husband Kevin Federline’s memoir, according to a source cited in new reporting about the singer’s situation.
Reality Tea reported that an insider told Us Weekly that Federline’s tell-all book, You Thought You Knew, “wasn’t the catalyst” for Spears’ arrest in Ventura County on March 4 on suspicion of driving under the influence.
According to the report, the source said the memoir “did upset her deeply and definitely didn’t help matters,” but added that Spears’ issues “predate the book.” The article also said Spears was released from jail the next morning.
The update follows earlier reports about the singer’s post-arrest fears, including claims that she was “devastated” and worried about potential jail time as her family looked into treatment options for addiction and mental health concerns.
The report said a representative for Spears described the incident as “inexcusable” and claimed her family was working on an “overdue” plan intended to set her up for success. It added that an insider said loved ones were praying she would avoid jail time, calling that outcome the “worst-case scenario.”
