Katy Perry had an emotional moment during her concert in Inglewood, California, on Tuesday night. While performing at the Kia Forum, she tried to hold back tears as she sang the breakup ballad “Not Like the Movies,” a song fans voted for her to perform. Usually, she lets the audience choose a song each night, but this one hit a little too close to home.
Clearly referencing her recent split from longtime partner and ex‑fiancé Orlando Bloom, Katy asked the crowd, “You’re gonna make me sing this song in this time in my life?” She went ahead with it anyway, saying, “I’m gonna try not to cry. Don’t worry. I won’t cry,” but joked that she was just trying to hold her composure.
Katy reminded the audience that the song dates back to her 2010 album and was written during her first marriage, around the time of her divorce from Russell Brand, which ended in 2011 after just one year.
She also performed “The One That Got Away,” telling fans she’d try to keep it together singing it a week before her period, earning laughs and cheers from the crowd.
The concert comes just weeks after news broke that Perry and Bloom, who had been together on and off since 2016, had officially split. They share a four‑year‑old daughter, Daisy, and both released a joint statement saying their focus remains on raising her with love and mutual respect.
Despite the breakup, they’ve kept things amicable. They recently vacationed together in Italy with Daisy, and Bloom even posted a family photo that included Perry and his son Flynn, whom he shares with ex‑wife Miranda Kerr. It’s clear that while Perry is pushing forward with her tour and career, emotions from her personal life are still very present on stage.
