Royal experts say the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton has grown stronger after Kate’s battle with cancer.
In March 2024, Kate revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy. She later shared positive updates, confirming she was cancer-free in September 2024 and in remission by January 2025.
Former royal photographer Ian Pelham Turner said the couple had faced rumors in the past about problems in their marriage. However, he believes Kate’s illness brought them closer together. According to Turner, the experience reminded William how important Kate is in his life and helped renew their emotional bond.
“There were ongoing rumors at one time that the marriage between William and Kate may not have been as blissful as publicly portrayed.
William has been known for his outbursts and Kate has found ways of calming the situation down but personally, I feel after the cancer diagnosis and the threat of losing her, the closeness was rekindled,” Turner said.
“And that is why decisions were made such as their quieter living accommodation rather than a palace to try and lead a normal family life have become their focus.”
He also noted that the couple now focuses more on living a quieter and more private family life. This includes choosing a home away from palace living so they can raise their children in a calmer environment.
In late 2024, William and Kate moved with their three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park. The move followed several difficult years, including Kate’s illness and the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal experts say the challenges the couple faced strengthened their relationship rather than harming it, showing how shared hardship can bring families closer together.
