President Donald Trump ended his visit to Windsor Castle with a friendly handshake and warm goodbye to King Charles III before heading to Chequers to meet U.K. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. Their meeting is expected to cover topics like Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and trade.
While Trump focused on politics, First Lady Melania Trump joined Princess Kate at Frogmore Gardens for a visit with the Scouts’ Squirrels program. Earlier in the day, Melania toured Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House with Queen Camilla. This was the first time Melania and Kate teamed up for an event, and they spent time with children learning about nature and earning “Go Wild” badges.
At one point, Kate sat on the grass chatting with kids about their art, while a young girl led Melania to a table to build “bug hotels.” When asked about her favorite bug, Melania answered “ladybug.”
The visit had personal meaning for Kate, who was a Brownie as a child and has been Joint President of the Scout Association since 2020. She has also spoken about how nature helped her during her cancer treatment in 2024 and shared earlier this year that she is now in remission.
On the final day of the state visit, Melania and Queen Camilla explored Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House and the Royal Library at Windsor Castle. The Dolls’ House, built between 1921 and 1924, includes electricity, running water, and tiny furniture, and features work from hundreds of artists and craftspeople. They also viewed Queen Elizabeth’s copy of Alice in Wonderland and King Charles’s Beatrix Potter collection.
The day followed a grand state banquet in St. George’s Hall at Windsor Castle with 160 guests. Trump called his second U.K. state visit “one of the highest honors of my life,” marking the end of a trip that blended diplomacy with royal tradition.
