Justin Bieber’s pastor, Judah Smith, is brushing off claims that his church, Churchome, is actually a cult. In fact, he’s making light of the situation and even cracking jokes about it.
Smith shared a video on Instagram where he talked about being approached by paparazzi. One of them directly asked him if he leads a cult. Caught off guard, Smith joked on stage by pretending to call for “snakes” and some blood for rituals, obviously mocking the idea.
He admitted those kinds of jokes probably aren’t the best, but he still insisted that if Churchome were really a cult, it would be the “worst cult in history.” He pointed out that the church only meets once a month now, and he doesn’t even preach weekly anymore very different from how cults usually operate.
The rumors began after Ryan Good, a close friend of Bieber and co-founder of Bieber’s clothing brand Drew House, reportedly said he thinks Churchome is a cult. There’s also tension because Justin added Judah Smith to the Drew House board, despite Ryan and Judah not getting along. Ryan and Justin aren’t speaking currently, and Ryan is said to be concerned about some of Justin’s recent behavior.
Despite all the speculation, Judah Smith seems confident there’s nothing to worry about and he’s definitely not planning on doing any creepy rituals to prove it.
