Lewis Capaldi has revealed that Justin Bieber “ghosted” him after a fun night out together. The 28-year-old singer told Capital Breakfast’s Chris Stark that he and Bieber, 31, met at a party filled with stars, including Charli XCX. Capaldi said Bieber came over and greeted him warmly, and they spent the evening hanging out.
“I thought we were going to be best friends,” Capaldi joked. “He told me to make sure he got my number, so I thought this was huge.”
The next day, Capaldi sent Bieber a long friendly message, calling him a “great guy” and saying how special the night was. Bieber liked the text but never replied. “So if you’re out there, Bieber, text me back please,” Capaldi laughed. “Bieber aired me.”
The interview was also Capaldi’s first in two years, and he spoke about taking a break from music. He said the time off felt a bit like a university experience since he missed out on that while touring. He admitted he had fun nights out in London but also spent time focusing on himself and his mental health.
Capaldi is now back and stronger than ever. His comeback tour sold out in seconds, with fans complaining about Ticketmaster glitches that kept them from getting tickets. The singer added extra dates, but those also sold out immediately, making this his fastest-selling tour ever.
On Instagram, Capaldi thanked fans for their incredible support and apologized to those who missed out. He explained that he won’t be adding any more shows for now because he doesn’t want to push himself too hard after his break.
Fans who couldn’t get tickets vented their frustration at Ticketmaster online, while the company defended itself, saying the site didn’t crash and advising fans on how to avoid issues in the future.
Capaldi’s tour will see him perform 17 shows across the UK and Ireland in September, marking his emotional return to the stage after two years away.
