The human remains that washed ashore near Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island home have been identified as per PEOPLE.
The outlet reported on the remains that were found in the Watch Hill neighborhood of Westerly, R.I., on Wednesday, May 14th, not far from the singer’s seaside mansion, dubbed “Holiday House.”
In a press release from the South Kingstown Police Department issued on Friday, June 13th, officials confirmed that the remains belonged to Eric Wein, of Massachusetts.
“The South Kingstown Police Department has been notified by the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners that the human remains that washed ashore on May 14, 2025, in Westerly, Rhode Island, have been positively identified as belonging to Mr. Eric Wein,” the release states.
It also noted that Wein’s vehicle was found in South Kingstown on Thursday, April 10th, and he was officially reported missing on Friday, April 18th.
South Kingstown law enforcement worked with the Mansfield, Mass., police department and the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners in their investigation, which has now “formally concluded,” per the release.
“No foul play is suspected. We extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Wein’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the statement concludes.
In May, Westerly, R.I., police confirmed to PEOPLE that officers found “what appeared to be a human leg bone” on Everett Avenue in Watch Hill around 9:30 a.m. The remains were transported to the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiners for analysis, and police noted that no foul play was suspected at the time.
