On Monday, May 5th, the model left The Carlyle Hotel en route to fashion’s biggest night while carrying an unexpected accessory — a martini, complete with several olives — as she smiled and waved at paparazzi outside of the New York City hotel.
For this year’s gala, themed “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” Hailey wore a black blazer mini dress, and teamed the double-breasted moment with sheer tights; patent, platform pumps; and a whole lot of Tiffany & Co. bling. (Her martini was gone by the time she hit the red carpet.)
The star added pops of sparkle all over, including a bracelet and ring from Tiffany & Co.’s 2024 Tiffany Blue Book Collection, and a pair of glittering drop earrings, which peaked out from behind her wavy, side-parted hair. For glam, she wore her usual blushed, glowy base, and a glossy pink lip.
Justin was not by Hailey’s side for this year’s event, which comes a day after the singer added to ongoing concerns among his fans with latest social media post.
On Sunday, May 4th, the “Peaches” singer dropped a photo of himself appearing to smoke a bong on Instagram, which comes amid ongoing speculation about his mental health due to a number of vulnerable social media posts and an emotional plea to the paparazzi to stop photographing his every move.
Vogue announced Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and Anna Wintour would be co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala last October, alongside LeBron James as honorary chair. The event, which is held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, is a fundraiser for The Costume Institute and spotlights the museum’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is the theme for the gala.
Curator in Charge Andrew Bolton shared that the exhibit, which is inspired by guest curator Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, explores “the Black dandy as both a concept and an identity signifier.”
The exhibit “presents a cultural and historical examination of Black style from the 18th century to the present through an exploration of the concept of dandyism,” according to a post on the museum’s Instagram.
The Met Gala’s dress code for this year is “Tailored for You,” a nod to the exhibition’s focus on menswear and suiting. The gala also has a star-studded host committee: Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, as well as Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese and Usher.
