GMB Interrupted After William’s Hamnet Remark
Good Morning Britain was briefly interrupted on Monday as the programme discussed Prince William’s latest public comments, made days after the arrest of his uncle Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. The Prince of Wales attended the BAFTA Film Awards in London on Sunday with Catherine, Princess of Wales, in what was their first major public appearance since the news broke.
On the show, ITV correspondent Mr Jonathan Swain relayed that Prince William was asked whether he had seen the film Hamnet, and replied: “No. I haven’t seen it. I need to be in a calm state for that and I’m not at the moment,” Express reported.
Mr Swain also told viewers that King Charles is expected to assist police with their investigation by providing access to relevant files, and said there have been growing calls from MPs for a judge-led inquiry into Andrew’s time as the UK’s trade envoy. The update came as the royal family faces renewed scrutiny over Andrew’s activities and associations in previous years.
The comments follow earlier reporting on how Prince William has been described as “limited” in how far he can publicly respond as the controversy develops, with the Prince continuing to carry out official duties alongside public engagements.
Andrew, previously known as the Duke of York, was arrested last Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and later released under investigation, according to the report. He has denied wrongdoing and has not been charged.
