Former Courtier Says William Driven by Millennial Outlook
A former royal courtier has offered fresh insight into how Prince William approaches his growing responsibilities, suggesting the Prince of Wales’s outlook has been shaped by the pressures and pace of change experienced by millennials.
Yahoo Entertainment reported that royal expert Mr Russell Myers, writing in his new biography William and Catherine: The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story, quoted a former courtier as saying being a millennial has “guided” William’s principles, describing a generation shaped by “the birth of the internet, social media” and a world that is “literally on fire every way you turn.”
According to Myers, the former palace employee argued that the Prince and Princess of Wales have sought “balance” by “taking their time” and focusing on what matters most to them, adding that their “own foundations need to be rock solid before they can deliver for anyone else.”
The extract also highlights the couple’s emphasis on family life, with Myers saying “the welfare of their children” has been central for both William and Catherine. The comments come as the Prince of Wales continues to take on a more prominent role as heir to King Charles, with expectations he will shape the monarchy’s future direction.
While the book’s claims are attributed to an unnamed former courtier, they add to the broader narrative that William’s leadership style is influenced by modern communications and changing public expectations, alongside a strong focus on stability at home.
