DOJ Cites Maxwell Emails Mentioning Prince Andrew
Newly reviewed U.S. court documents show federal investigators believed emails involving Ghislaine Maxwell indicated she was arranging young women for Prince Andrew, adding fresh attention to the Duke of York’s longstanding denial of wrongdoing connected to Jeffrey Epstein.
ABC News reported that a search-warrant application signed shortly before Ms Maxwell’s 2020 arrest identified at least three instances in which investigators said Prince Andrew and Ms Maxwell appeared to discuss arrangements for young women, including ahead of his official state visit to Peru in 2002.
The report quoted an email investigators said was believed to have been sent by the Duke in February 2002, stating: “As for girls well I leave that entirely to you,” signed “Masses of love A.” It also cited an August 2001 message in which he asked Ms Maxwell, “Have you found me some new inappropriate friends?”
UK scrutiny of the Duke has continued in the years since, and earlier Britpop News reporting noted that Queen Elizabeth was allegedly worried about Andrew’s ties to Epstein as the controversy intensified during her reign.
According to ABC News, the FBI cited the messages in an application seeking judicial permission to search electronic devices seized from Epstein’s residences, and neither the Palace nor the Duke’s representatives responded to a request for comment. The story added that investigators sought to interview the Duke in 2020 but were unsuccessful, while Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said his office is seeking unredacted Epstein-related material from the U.S. Department of Justice.
