Diddy’s Lawyers Make Bold Prison Request

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ lawyers have asked a federal judge to recommend that he serve his four-year, two-month prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security prison in New Jersey. They said the facility’s drug treatment and rehabilitation programs would help him stay sober and allow for more family visits. The prison also offers educational and job training opportunities, according to attorney Teny Geragos.

The request came after Judge Arun Subramanian, who sentenced Combs on Friday, asked his legal team which facility they preferred. Fort Dix is located about 70 miles south of New York City and is one of the largest federal prisons in the country, with nearly 3,900 inmates.

On the same day, President Donald Trump told reporters that Combs had asked him for a presidential pardon but didn’t say whether he would grant it.

Combs’ sentencing closed a federal case that included disturbing testimony about violence, drugs, and sexual misconduct. He was convicted in July under the Mann Act for transporting people for prostitution but was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

The hip-hop mogul has been in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024. With time served, he could be released in about three years.

In a letter to the judge before sentencing, Combs said he has undergone a “spiritual reset” while in jail and is committed to living a clean and peaceful life. The judge has not yet acted on the prison placement request, though the Bureau of Prisons will ultimately decide where Combs serves his sentence.
