Diddy’s close friend Charlucci Finney has revealed that the rapper was nearly attacked in jail when another inmate snuck into his cell and held a homemade knife to his throat. Finney said the shocking incident happened while Diddy was asleep inside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, a prison known for violence and poor conditions.
‘He woke up with a knife to his throat,’ said Finney, revealing previously unreported details of the chilling close call inside the notoriously violent Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
‘I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened.’
According to Finney, Diddy woke up to find the weapon pressed against his neck. He doesn’t know if guards intervened or if Diddy fought off the attacker himself, but he believes the act was meant as a threat, not a real attempt to kill him. Finney said the message seemed to be a warning that “next time, he might not be so lucky.”
Diddy’s lawyers have raised concerns about his safety several times during his federal sex trafficking trial, saying inmates have targeted him for “prestige.” The rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, has been in jail for 13 months and is currently serving a 50-month sentence for prostitution-related charges.
His legal team has requested a transfer to a safer, lower-security prison in New Jersey so he can attend drug rehab and be closer to family. Finney, who has been by Diddy’s side for decades, says he worries constantly about his friend’s safety, especially since inmates often target people accused of sexual crimes.
Finney believes the near-attack was meant to scare Diddy rather than kill him. He continues to publicly support his friend, selling “Free Puff” clothing and collecting petition signatures for his release.
Earlier this year, Diddy was cleared of the most serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges but was found guilty of transporting escorts for drug-fueled parties. Despite his conviction, he has told the court he’s focusing on self-improvement, staying drug-free, and mentoring others in prison. However, Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced him to four years and fined him $500,000, calling his behavior toward ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura “savage abuse.”
