One of the happiest people after Inter Miami won the MLS Cup is team co-owner David Beckham. This win made one of his dreams come true, becoming a champion in American soccer. Beckham was so excited that he accidentally revealed Lionel Messi’s future plans.
After Inter Miami’s 3-1 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the final, Beckham shared how much pressure he had felt ever since starting the club and trying to build a winning team. He said he could finally relax now that everything paid off.
“I had many sleepless nights. But I always believed in Miami. I found the right partners, and from then on, I knew anything was possible. Just like our jersey says — freedom to dream.”
Bringing in top players like Luis Suárez, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets, and Rodrigo De Paul was a big part of Beckham’s strategy. He knew that for the club to succeed, they needed not just strong talent on the field, but also big names to boost the team’s image.
The biggest move of all was signing Lionel Messi. For many, this seemed like a dream, but Beckham made it happen. Messi brought both star power and leadership to the team, guiding them to the title. For Beckham, Messi was the perfect mix of world-class talent and responsible captain.
Beckham hopes Messi stays in Miami after retiring, but it turns out Messi has other plans and Beckham unintentionally shared them during an Apple TV interview.
He revealed that Messi told him he wants to live near Camp Nou (Barcelona’s stadium) after retiring. According to Beckham, “There’s no player who loves Barcelona more than Messi.” He even pointed out that Messi has the Barça logo tattooed on his leg and on his water bottle.
So while Beckham may dream of having Messi as his neighbor in Miami one day, it seems the Argentine legend plans to return to Barcelona when his playing days are over.
