Britney Spears Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged iCloud Hacking
Britney Spears has accused a former bodyguard of accessing her personal accounts and devices without permission, with her representatives warning that legal action could follow. The claims centre on alleged unauthorised entry to her Apple iCloud and electronic devices after his employment ended, escalating what has been described as a dispute stemming from his departure from her team last year.
Complex reported that a cease-and-desist letter sent by Spears’ attorney last month, and obtained by TMZ, accuses former employee Mr Thomas Bunbury of gaining access to the singer’s devices and iCloud account and of viewing private information without her consent.
The letter demands that Mr Bunbury stop accessing any accounts or devices, delete any copied material, and disclose whether personal files, photos or documents were shared with anyone else. It also says Spears is prepared to involve law enforcement and pursue criminal charges if necessary.
The report links the dispute to Mr Bunbury’s dismissal in August, after allegations he violated a nondisclosure agreement by communicating with media outlets and with Spears fans. It adds that Spears experienced repeated account-access issues in the months afterwards, including being temporarily locked out several times, and her legal team believes those problems may be connected to the alleged intrusion.
The claims follow wider scrutiny of Spears’ privacy and control over her personal life in the years since her conservatorship ended in 2021, and come as she continues to face intense public attention. Britpop News previously reported on the same dispute when Spears’ team sent a cease-and-desist to her former bodyguard over alleged iCloud access.
No criminal charges have been announced, and the allegations have not been tested in court. Spears’ legal team has indicated the next steps could depend on whether the former employee complies with the demands set out in the letter.
