Britney Spears Pleads With Sons After DUI Arrest
Britney Spears has reportedly been contacting her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James in the wake of a recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, as the singer attempts to rebuild strained family relationships and reassure them she is taking steps to change.
heatworld reported that the 44-year-old has been “calling and texting” her sons to apologise, promising to “do whatever it takes” to earn back their trust and asking them not to “give up” on her, according to an unnamed insider.
The report said Ms Spears was taken into custody on 4 March after being spotted driving “erratically” and showing signs of being under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, before spending one night in jail and being released. It added she is due to appear at Ventura County Superior Court on 4 May.
The latest claims follow a difficult period for Ms Spears, with heatworld linking the fallout to explosive allegations published in a memoir by her former husband Mr Kevin Federline, and noting he has had primary custody of the couple’s sons since 2007 and now lives with them in Hawaii; Britpop News previously reported on Britney Spears facing court after her DUI arrest as the case moved towards a hearing.
Heatworld said those around Ms Spears believe her sons remain her main motivation to make changes, while also claiming she is reluctant to seek help because anything perceived as control can trigger anxiety tied to her years under a conservatorship.
