Britney Spears Hospitalised After DUI Arrest
Britney Spears was taken to hospital and had her blood drawn after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura County, California, in an incident that is expected to lead to a court appearance in May.
After the 44-year-old was detained on Wednesday evening, Page Six reported that she was taken to a hospital early Thursday morning so officials could determine her blood alcohol content, with TMZ also cited as saying she had been telling people her BAC was “.06”.
The report said Spears was booked at 3.02am and released at 6.07am, and noted that while the legal limit in California is 0.08 per cent, drivers can still be charged if they are observed operating a vehicle erratically. It also stated she was not injured during the arrest.
In a statement carried by the outlet, her manager, Cade Hudson, called the detainment “the first step in long overdue change” and said the incident was “completely inexcusable”, adding that Spears would “comply with the law” and that he hoped she could get “the help and support she needs”. Hudson also said her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, would be spending time with her, echoing themes previously raised when her older son was reported to be keeping his distance.
Spears is scheduled to appear in court on May 4, according to the report, which added that she has deactivated her Instagram in the wake of the arrest after posting videos of herself dancing at home earlier in the day.
