Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Sam Asghari, recently made a comment about their past relationship. While attending a red carpet event with his new girlfriend, Brooke Irvine, he called his marriage to Britney “Hollywood,” but said his new relationship is “all about love.”
Sam, 31, and Brooke, a real estate agent, made their red carpet debut during the grand opening of The Tryst hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Speaking to Us Weekly on April 25, Sam said, “It’s all about love. It’s not about Hollywood or the industry.” He added that real love is about being present, living in the moment, and supporting each other.
Sam was with Britney, now 43, from 2016 until they split in 2023. They first met in 2016 when he appeared in her Slumber Party music video. They got married in June 2022 but Sam filed for divorce just 14 months later, surprising fans and Britney.
At the red carpet event, Sam said it wasn’t planned for him and Brooke to go public but that they were happy to support a good cause. He also shared that love isn’t about gender or race, and said he supports the LGBTQ+ community for teaching him that.
Earlier this year, Sam said he felt “afraid” during Britney’s conservatorship, which had controlled her life and finances for 12 years until it ended in 2021. He described Britney’s situation as “strange” when he first found out about it early in their relationship. Sam and Brooke have been dating since January 2025, and now seem very happy together.
