Sam Asghari has discussed his past relationship with Britney Spears, emphasizing that respect continues to influence his views about their time together. The 31-year-old actor and fitness model is the latest cover star of Playgirl via Yahoo. In the interview that accompanies his cover story, he reflects on his nearly decade-long connection with the pop icon.
When the magazine referenced an Iranian proverb that warns against speaking ill of someone you’ve “eaten with,” Asghari agreed wholeheartedly.

“I always want to respect that. I’m always going to stick to that, and that’s the number one thing for me.”
Spears, and Asghari first met in 2016 on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video, where sparks quickly flew.
They publicly confirmed their romance soon after, announced their engagement in September 2021, and married in June 2022. However, after just 14 months of marriage, the pair separated in August 2023. Their divorce was finalized in May 2024, ending a relationship that Asghari says still holds immense meaning for him.
As per Playgirl, he spoke “warmly” about Spears during the interview, often smiling as he looked back on their time together.
“The best thing you can do is celebrate the past, appreciate the past, and not dwell on the fact that it’s over,” he said to People. He added,”Be happy it ever even happened.”
Asghari has since entered a new chapter and is currently dating Brooke Irvine, with the couple going Instagram official in January 2025. However, he still makes it clear that moving forward doesn’t erase the significance of what came before.
“Our marriage was very real to me,” he said. “It may have been short, but we were together for seven years. I was in love with her, will always have love for her, and wish her the best always.”
