Sam Asghari says he and Britney Spears are not in touch as he asks for her privacy
Sam Asghari has shared a rare update about Britney Spears, saying the former couple are not currently in contact as the singer remains in the headlines following her recent DUI arrest. Asghari, 32, spoke on the red carpet at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party, where he was interviewed about his past relationship with the pop star.
Extra reported that Asghari said he “always love[s] to celebrate the past” and “honor what we went through as a couple,” adding that he wishes Spears “the best” amid public discussion about her life.
Asked whether they still speak, Asghari said: “You know, it’s something that when things end, you can only hope for the best and I hope one day maybe, but at the moment, no.” He also said Spears “has been through hell and back” and added that his “wishes are for her privacy.”
His comments come as Spears is preparing to appear in court over the DUI allegation, and in Britpop News’ earlier report Britney Spears was described as fearful about the May hearing as she navigates the legal process.
During the same interview, Asghari also spoke about a new collaboration with MISTR aimed at challenging stigma around sexual health, describing the campaign as a “big, bold, sexy” launch for what he called a serious cause.
Spears and Asghari were married in 2022 and later divorced. Neither has publicly detailed the reasons for the split, but Asghari’s remarks indicate he is keeping his focus on moving forward while wishing his former wife well.
