Sam Asghari recently talked about his relationship with Britney Spears, showing nothing but respect for his ex-wife.
In a podcast interview, the 30-year-old model and actor shared how he met Spears on the set of her 2016 Slumber Party music video. At the time, he knew who she was but wasn’t familiar with her music. Their connection felt “natural,” and after meeting for sushi, their romance grew into a long-term relationship.
“I got to know her a little bit, and she was super sweet and everything was perfect,” he said of the “Stronger” singer. “And then after that, I think we went to a movie. We kept seeing each other for a very long time,” he added, calling the romance “very traditional.
Asghari reflected on their seven-year relationship, calling it the longest for both of them. He admitted that Spears’ conservatorship was “very strange” to deal with, but he tried to be a “normal” part of her life.
Calling it a “right place, right time,” moment, Asghari said their romance was “meant to be.”
“This is a seven-year-long relationship, and it’s the longest I’ve been in a relationship with somebody, and it’s the longest she’s ever been in a relationship with somebody,” he shared. “But, you know, we had to deal with — she was under the conservatorship, and that was very strange for me to deal with. I got hit with that at the beginning.”
After filing for divorce in August 2023, Asghari stayed neutral when asked about Spears’ viral video of herself dancing with knives. He defended her right to express herself as an artist, saying he would never try to control what she posted.
Their divorce was finalized in May 2024, but Asghari still speaks highly of Spears, acknowledging her talent and individuality.
