Britney Spears fears jail after DUI arrest
Britney Spears is said to be “devastated” and worried about the possibility of jail time after she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Ventura County, California. The 44-year-old singer was detained late Wednesday night and is scheduled to appear in court on 4 May, as her inner circle weighs what comes next.
Spears was arrested by the California Highway Patrol after she was allegedly seen weaving her BMW in and out of traffic, Page Six reported, adding that she was later taken to a local hospital for a blood draw before being released early Thursday morning.
According to the outlet, a source close to Spears claimed the incident “has scared the crap out of her” and said her loved ones are “just praying it is rehab and not jail.” The source also said Spears feels “a lot of regret” and is concerned about the potential impact on her sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, who were said to be with her as she awaits results from tests connected to the arrest.
The reported discussions about treatment come amid wider scrutiny surrounding Spears’ life since her conservatorship ended, including claims in a previous Britpop News report that she parted ways with some staff in the weeks before the arrest.
Spears’ manager, Mr Cade Hudson, described the incident as “completely inexcusable” in a statement to the outlet and said Spears intends to comply with the law and seek support. A legal expert quoted in the same reporting said a DUI conviction alone would not automatically lead to another conservatorship, and any outcome would depend on a broader pattern and the court process now underway.
