Pop icon Britney Spears’ recent chaos on Instagram has come to an end surprisingly, as the pop star appears to have deleted her account via Yahoo.
The “Lucky” singer’s account, which as of Saturday bore the handle @britneyspears and the display name XILA MARIA RIVER RED, now directs to an error page that notes the profile is no longer available.
“The link may be broken, or the profile may have been removed,” the blank page now reads, in place of an account that displayed thousands of posts from over 12 years of activity.
It is currently unclear whether Britney Spears personally deleted her own account or if the social media platform owned by Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta suspended or removed it. The deletion of Spears’ account follows the publication of several concerning posts inspired by the release of a memoir by her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, who is also the father of her two sons.
The memoir, titled “You Thought You Knew,” was published in late October and details the highs and lows of Federline and Spears’ turbulent relationship, which began when they met in 2004 and ended with their divorce in 2007. The book includes a number of sensational allegations, including Federline’s claims that Spears used cocaine while breastfeeding their son Jayden, that she cheated on him with a female dancer, and that she threatened their children in alarming ways.
Spears took exception to such claims, employing Instagram as her main channel of communication to the public.
“The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys… Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by own father for me,” Spears wrote in a post cross-shared to X, where it is still live. Spears was regularly reposting messages to the text-based platform owned by Elon Musk, but her last post is dated October 16th.
“Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here,” she continued. “I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.
