Kevin Federline has made a shocking claim in his new memoir You Thought You Knew, saying that Britney Spears used cocaine while she was still breastfeeding their two young sons. According to Federline, the incident happened in 2006 during the release party for his album Playing With Fire.
He wrote that Britney had told him she would stay home with their sons, Sean Preston and Jayden, but she showed up at the event with her father, Jamie Spears. Federline said Jamie gave him a warning look, hinting that something was wrong. When he opened his dressing room door, he claims he saw Britney and another young actress using cocaine.
Federline said Britney was wearing a bright blue wig and didn’t try to hide what she was doing. Their sons were only one year and one month old at the time. He begged her not to breastfeed them and to use formula instead. Britney allegedly threw a drink in his face, and he says that was the moment their marriage ended.
“I was happy [Jamie Spears] had decided to come support me,” Federline recalls. “He threw a look my way, shook his head and motioned to my dressing room door. His expression sat in that flat blank space between disapproval and apprehension, as if to say: ‘She’s here, and it’s not good.’”
When Federline opened the door, he claims he saw “Britney and [a] young starlet friend snorting a fat line of coke off the table.”
He alleges, “Both were wearing these outrageous wigs. Britney’s was electric blue. It was surreal. They didn’t even try to hide it.”
A few days later, Federline’s lawyer sent a letter asking Britney to stop breastfeeding. Soon after, she filed for divorce in November 2006, ending their two-year marriage.
Britney has denied the claims, calling Federline’s book “full of white lies” in a post on X. Her representative also criticized the memoir, saying Kevin is trying to profit from her again now that his child support payments have ended. The book is set to be released on October 21.
