Beyoncé is in some legal trouble because of a video shown during her 2025 COWBOY CARTER tour. In the video, she picks up the Las Vegas Sphere, a big, round concert venue that’s famous for its look. Fans were excited about the clip, but the company that owns the Sphere, Sphere Entertainment Group (SEG), didn’t like it.
SEG’s CEO, James Dolan, sent a cease and desist letter to Beyoncé’s team, telling them to stop using the video. They say Beyoncé didn’t ask for permission to use the Sphere’s image, and that the video makes it seem like she might perform there in the future, which isn’t true. They’re giving her until Monday, May 5 to remove it, or they may take legal action.
There were talks before about Beyoncé doing a residency (a long run of concerts) at the Sphere, but that didn’t happen. Reportedly, Beyoncé wanted the venue to close for two weeks so she could rehearse, and the venue refused. She’s now said to be talking with MGM about doing a 100-show residency instead.
The COWBOY CARTER tour began on April 28 in Los Angeles, with five shows at SoFi Stadium. She’ll also perform in cities like Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, and Las Vegas. In June, she’s heading to Europe to perform in London and Paris.
Her new album, COWBOY CARTER, mixes country, pop, and Americana and has been praised as one of the best albums of 2024. Now, fans are watching to see what will happen with the Sphere video and if Beyoncé’s team will make any changes.
