Adam Sandler had nothing but kind words for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. The 58-year-old actor praised Kelce, who has a cameo in Happy Gilmore 2, calling him “a gentle, nice guy” and “funny as hell.” Sandler said Kelce reminded him of his high school friends laid-back, easy to talk to, and always ready for a laugh.
He went on to call Kelce “a stud,” adding that the Kansas City Chiefs star is not only a great actor but also “a great human.”
Sandler’s Happy Gilmore 2 co-star Julie Bowen also chimed in, saying that it felt like “everybody wanted to be in” the movie, which features several celebrity cameos including Kelce, Bad Bunny, Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi), and multiple pro golfers. Sandler noted that getting them all involved “wasn’t too difficult.”
As for Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift, Sandler revealed that his daughters, Sadie and Sunny — who also appear in the film, have met the superstar multiple times. He recalled Swift hugging him and his kids at her Eras Tour film premiere in Los Angeles in 2023, and said she’s always been incredibly warm and kind to his family.
“Taylor is incredible,” Sandler said. “She’s ridiculously nice to my kids and has always been.”
Earlier this year, in a February 2024 episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Sandler admitted he gets a little nervous around Swift because he doesn’t want to “blow it” in front of his daughters. “I don’t stay as cool as I can,” he joked. Happy Gilmore 2, also starring Christopher McDonald, Ben Stiller, Dennis Dugan, and others, premieres on Netflix July 25.
