Taylor Swift Drops Country Song for Toy Story 5
Ms. Taylor Swift has released a new track for the upcoming Disney Pixar film “Toy Story 5,” marking a notable stylistic turn back towards the country sound that launched her career. The song, titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” arrived on Friday as part of the movie’s soundtrack rollout, with the singer describing the project as both a new challenge and a return to familiar musical territory.
Page Six reported that Swift said the release felt like “a musical departure and coming home at the same time,” as she shared throwback footage on Instagram referencing the franchise’s character Jessie.
In her posts, Swift thanked filmmaker Andrew Stanton for “imagining” her for the newest film and praised composer Mr. Randy Newman for shaping the musical world of the franchise. She also told followers she co-wrote “I Knew It, I Knew You” with longtime collaborator Mr. Jack Antonoff, saying they approached it with “so much adoration” for the characters from the films.
The release follows Swift’s earlier announcement that she had seen “Toy Story 5” in its early stages and wrote the song soon after returning home from the screening, a moment also covered when she confirmed she had written an original track for the film.
“Toy Story 5” is due to arrive in cinemas on June 19, a date that coincides with the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single “Tim McGraw,” underscoring the timing of her renewed country-leaning release as the pop star continues to expand her catalogue across genres and projects.
