Mark Dolan Claims King Charles Won’t Cut Andrew Off
King Charles is facing renewed scrutiny over how the Royal Family continues to handle Prince Andrew, after broadcaster Mr Mark Dolan argued the monarch has taken a “weak” approach to his younger brother despite ongoing controversy. The comments were made on the Daily Expresso podcast and focus on why the King may be reluctant to sever ties completely.
Discussing the situation, Express.co.uk reported that Mr Dolan claimed King Charles would not fully cut Andrew “out of his life” because he wants to honour a promise made to the late Queen Elizabeth II to stand by him.
Mr Dolan told host JJ Anisobi that loyalty to the late Queen may be shaping the King’s decisions, and suggested her affection for Andrew influenced how the Palace responded when a cache of 30,000 emails linked to the Duke’s financial dealings was handed over in 2020. He also pointed to reporting references in High Court documents from 2021 and 2022 indicating the archive was delivered to senior Royal Household officials and later to Buckingham Palace, while a Palace spokesperson said no comment could be made because of an ongoing police enquiry.
The latest claims come as the Royal Family continues to manage the fallout from Andrew’s association with the late Jeffrey Epstein and subsequent public backlash, with reports that King Charles has tried to keep his distance from Prince Andrew as tensions around the issue remain unresolved.
Andrew, who served as the UK’s special representative for international trade and investment from 2001 to 2011, has denied wrongdoing over his links to the convicted sex offender. For the King, the episode remains a continuing reputational challenge as investigations and allegations linked to the Duke of York’s conduct keep the subject firmly in the public eye.
