Princess Kate Jokes About William at Cancer Reception
Catherine, Princess of Wales, made rare public remarks about Prince William while attending a Cancer Research UK reception with King Charles and Queen Camilla at St James’s Palace in London on Tuesday, as the charity marked its 125th anniversary.
During the evening, Hello Magazine reported that the Princess replied “So do I!” after singer Mr Ronan Keating and Ms Storm Keating praised Prince William as “such a gent” and asked her to pass on their regards, prompting laughter.
The publication also described a more serious exchange with Mr Sebastian Bowen, the widower of the late Dame Deborah James, who told the Princess he had been thinking about the Royal Family “a lot” as both the King and the Princess have spoken publicly about their own cancer experiences.
Mr Bowen said he thanked Prince William for a sympathetic conversation with his children, and the Princess responded that William “is good like that”, a moment that underscored the personal tone of the reception alongside the charity’s work in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
The reception brought together researchers, clinicians, volunteers and supporters, with the King—patron of Cancer Research UK—meeting guests as the Princess continues a gradual return to duties following her announcement that she is in remission, while the monarch remains in treatment.
