Prince William and Kate Relocate Five Armed Officers
Five armed Metropolitan Police officers assigned to protective duties at Kensington Palace have been moved to other roles following a complaint from a member of royal household staff about allegedly inappropriate comments. The reported action concerns the Prince and Princess of Wales’ London base at Kensington Palace and comes amid wider scrutiny of standards among specialist protection teams.
Hello Magazine reported that the Royal Household relocated the officers to other armed duties after an internal Metropolitan Police investigation found behaviour said to include misogynistic remarks and an attempt by one officer to befriend the staff member on Facebook.
According to the report, the Metropolitan Police looked into the allegations and concluded the findings did not meet the threshold for misconduct, meaning the officers were cleared for duty. However, the Royal Household is said to have taken its own action by removing the officers from duties at the palace, and the Prince and Princess of Wales were reportedly informed.
The development comes as Kensington Palace remains an official base for the couple when they are in London, even though they now live full-time in Windsor. It also follows earlier Britpop News reporting that William and Kate reportedly plan new Kensington Palace security as arrangements continue to evolve around their London residence.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said the behaviour described fell below the high standards expected, adding that the officers received “reflective practice” as part of the internal process. Further comment has been sought, and the episode is likely to keep attention on how protective teams are managed across royal residences.
