Princess Kate’s 2006 Halterneck Dress Resurfaces
Princess Kate’s early-2000s style has been revisited as a throwback photograph from 2006 resurfaced during the UK’s current warm spell, showing the Princess of Wales at a polo event in a floral halterneck sundress and a casual updo. The look, worn while she was dating Prince William, has been highlighted as an example of her pre-royal “Chelsea girl” era.
At the Rundle Cup Day at Tidworth Polo Club in 2006, Princess Kate wore a brown-and-white floral halterneck dress with a plunging neckline and a belt at the waist, paired with tinted sunglasses and white pointed-toe shoes. Hello Magazine reported that she also sported a relatable “messy bun” during the event, apparently to cope with the sunshine.
The feature also referenced a separate throwback image of Ms Pippa Middleton, taken in 2016, showing her cycling in Chelsea in a navy and lilac floral dress. It noted that the sisters frequently attended society events together during the period when they were living in the capital.
Kate and Pippa’s brother, Mr James Middleton, previously wrote about their shared SW3 apartment and Prince William’s visits in his memoir, describing how a police protection car could alert him that William was there and how the flat could become “messy” when he stayed over. Britpop News has previously covered royal fashion moments, including Princess Kate’s summer hats chosen for sophisticated style as her public wardrobe continues to draw attention.
The renewed interest underlines how Kate’s earlier outfits still shape public conversations about royal style, even as she remains one of the royal family’s most closely watched figures at official events and in archival photos from her years before marriage.
