Police Report Details Britney Spears DUI Stop
New details from a police report have emerged about Britney Spears’ March DUI arrest in Ventura County, California, including officers’ description of the stop, what they said they found in her car, and the plea deal that later kept her out of jail.
Us Weekly reported that officers pulled Ms Spears over on March 4 after 9pm local time following a call about a driver “traveling at high speeds and swerving”, and that an officer wrote she did not immediately respond to emergency lights, with the smell of alcohol detected once she stopped.
The report said Ms Spears allegedly told officers she had consumed a mimosa around seven hours earlier and rated herself “a zero” on a sobriety scale, while also disclosing she had taken prescription medications that day, including Lamictal, Prozac and Adderall. Officers also wrote that a bottle of Adderall found in her purse was not prescribed to her and that an empty wine glass was in the front cup holder.
Ms Spears later recorded .05 and .06 on breath tests, below California’s .08 legal limit, and subsequently accepted a plea agreement to a reduced charge commonly known as “wet reckless”, which included probation and conditions such as fines and DUI education requirements. Britpop News previously reported on the case when she was said to have agreed to a reduced charge after the arrest.
In a social media post referenced in coverage of the incident, the singer wrote about her “spiritual journey” and said she was learning “how to be kind” to herself, describing recent hardships as “a blessing in disguise”.
