King Charles avoids Prince Andrew at Sandringham
King Charles III reportedly kept his distance from Prince Andrew during a bank holiday stay on the Sandringham estate, as police confirmed an update in an ongoing criminal inquiry involving the Duke of York. The monarch was said to have arrived for a short break at Wood Farm, a property on the Norfolk estate, while Andrew was reported to be living nearby at Marsh Farm.
InStyle reported that Thames Valley Police said they were widening the scope of their investigation into Andrew, adding that an assessment of reports a woman was taken to an address in Windsor in 2010 for sexual purposes was ongoing.
The report said the two men were a short drive apart on the estate, but that Charles had no plans to see his brother during the visit. It also stated that police had searched two properties linked to Andrew and were working with the US Department of Justice and the Crown Prosecution Service as part of the probe.
Charles’s reported decision to keep a distance comes as the Royal Family continues to manage the fallout from the Duke’s scandals, with Britpop News previously reporting that Prince Andrew allegedly cannot be completely ostracised from the Royal Family despite efforts to reduce his public profile.
Prince Andrew has largely stepped back from public duties in recent years and has previously denied wrongdoing in relation to allegations made against him. The latest police update and the renewed focus on his living arrangements are likely to keep pressure on Buckingham Palace as questions continue over how the monarchy handles the Duke’s future role.
