New Book Claims Prince William ‘Tantrums’ Concern Aides
Prince William has been accused of having “tantrums” behind closed doors, according to claims in a new book that suggests advisers have urged the Prince of Wales to seek help managing stress and anger as he prepares for his future role as king.
In an article by Lizzie Lanuza, StyleCaster reports that royal author Mr Christopher Andersen makes the allegations in his book Kate! The Courage, Grace, and Power of the Woman Who Will be Queen, claiming the heir to the throne’s temper has at times alarmed King Charles.
The piece quotes an unnamed insider as saying there is “anxiety in some royal circles” that Prince William can become “intensely emotional and reactive when frustrated”, and another palace aide as claiming his intensity can “spill over into anger behind closed doors”.
According to the reporting, a former staffer quoted in the book alleged that when the Prince of Wales gets frustrated he can resort to shouting, including during arguments with King Charles, and the author described him as “capable of great bellowing tantrums”. It also states that advisers have, at times, suggested anger management therapy as a way to channel pressure more constructively, as the responsibilities of the role increase.
The claims come amid continuing focus on the Prince of Wales’s private life and leadership style, following previous coverage in which he spoke about how his family “couldn’t cope without” Catherine, Princess of Wales while giving an update on her health.
Neither Kensington Palace nor representatives for the Prince of Wales have publicly responded to the allegations contained in the book.
