Meghan Markle speaks in Geneva on online child safety
Meghan Markle has delivered a speech in Geneva calling for stronger protections for children online, appearing at the inauguration of The Lost Screen Memorial ahead of the 79th World Health Assembly.
Hello Magazine reported that the Duchess of Sussex attended the ceremony on Place des Nations alongside World Health Organization Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, global health leaders, ministers and families affected by online harm.
In remarks quoted from the event, Meghan said the memorial represented “Children. Each name belonged to a child who was loved beyond measure,” adding: “Now their faces ask the world questions we can no longer avoid: How many more millions of children will be harmed by products that, while innovative, are still designed without sufficient safeguards?”
The appearance comes as the couple continue their public work through Archewell, amid recent Britpop News coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s competing pressures between charity commitments and private life.
The Lost Screen Memorial installation was described as featuring 50 illuminated lightboxes displaying lock-screen images of children who died as a result of online violence and digital harm, placing renewed attention on calls for tech firms and regulators to address safety by design.
