Britney Spears Rep Denies Knife Scare at LA Restaurant
Ms Britney Spears was the subject of a new report after a dinner outing at an LA-area restaurant, where witnesses claimed her behaviour became disruptive and raised concerns among other diners. The account includes allegations that the singer shouted and barked at times while dining in Sherman Oaks on Wednesday night.
TMZ said witnesses at Blue Dog Tavern reported that Ms Spears walked past another table holding a knife, prompting fears she might accidentally stab someone, and also alleged she lit a cigarette inside near the door before staff intervened.
In an updated statement, a representative for Ms Spears disputed the report’s more serious claims, saying the incident had been “completely blown out of proportion” and that she was “enjoying a quiet dinner with her assistant and bodyguard”, TMZ reported.
The representative added that at no point did Ms Spears put anyone in danger with a knife, saying she was cutting a hamburger in half, and described the coverage as an unfair “attack” on the pop star. TMZ’s original account also claimed Ms Spears ordered a burger and fries but ate very little, and that her security later took her home.
The outing comes shortly after her recent legal development in California, following coverage in which she was reported to have pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in her DUI case.
No police involvement was reported in connection with the restaurant incident. Ms Spears has previously spoken publicly about her desire for privacy as she continues focusing on her wellbeing.
