Queen Camilla Flies Home as King Charles Visits Bermuda
Queen Camilla travelled back to the UK while King Charles continued on to Bermuda for a three-day visit, with the couple separating after completing official engagements during their US trip. The split travel plans drew attention because the King is continuing overseas duties while the Queen returned home immediately after the state-visit programme ended.
Hello Magazine reported that Queen Camilla flew on a commercial flight back to the UK while the King took the royal plane on to Bermuda, and noted that the itinerary had always been scheduled for Charles to travel there solo.
The publication said Buckingham Palace did not provide a specific reason for the couple travelling separately, but suggested the Queen’s well-known dislike of flying may have been a factor in her decision to minimise time in the air once the main US engagements were completed. It also referenced comments made by the Queen during the trip, when she acknowledged feeling “slightly jet lagged” after crossing the Atlantic.
Her travel plans come after a run of public appearances alongside the King on their US schedule, and follow other moments from the visit, including a brief incident during an Arlington tribute when she appeared to swat away an insect.
King Charles’s Bermuda engagements continue without the Queen by his side, underscoring how royal schedules can split even during major overseas trips when official duties require separate travel arrangements.
