King Charles and Queen Camilla Share Rare Kiss
King Charles and Queen Camilla were seen sharing a rare kiss in public as their four-day U.S. visit came to a close, before the couple headed in different directions for the next stage of their programme. The brief moment came as the King prepared to travel on to Bermuda while the Queen returned to the UK ahead of him.
As the couple parted ways on 30 April, they were spotted exchanging “a brief smooch” during a farewell moment in Virginia, InStyle reported in a piece published by Yahoo News.
The report said the gesture was notable because the King and Queen are typically restrained about public displays of affection, and it described the kiss as a break from long-standing protocol. It also said they later released a new portrait taken at Blair House, the US President’s guest house, alongside a message thanking Americans for their welcome during what was billed as their first visit to the United States as King and Queen.
The U.S. trip concluded with Charles due to continue his schedule overseas, with Britpop News previously reporting that the Palace confirmed his Bermuda engagements as the royal diary moved on from Washington, New York and Virginia.
During the visit, the King and Queen also travelled to New York City, where they attended the 9/11 Memorial and left a message of solidarity. The programme, described as fast-paced by the Queen in comments cited in the report, capped a high-profile overseas tour that included commemorative moments, official events and unusually personal public gestures.
