King Charles and Trump Share Duffy’s Cut Photos
Donald Trump and King Charles III were pictured together at the White House during the royal couple’s US state visit, with new scrutiny emerging over a photograph of the President holding a cut-out image of the King while meeting him outside.
Mirror reported that Mr Trump was seen carrying a cut-out photograph of King Charles, and that social media users suggested it resembled an image linked to the celebrity “Duffy’s cut-out” trend, prompting online debate about the unusual prop during the formal greeting.
The Mirror account said King Charles arrived first, with Queen Camilla also greeting Mr Trump and First Lady Melania Trump before the group posed for pictures. The report said Mr Trump appeared to show the cut-out image to the King, with the moment captured by photographers as part of the ceremony.
The encounter formed part of a tightly choreographed schedule for the state visit, amid heightened interest in the optics of the King’s meetings with US political figures. In earlier Britpop News coverage, King Charles was reported to have checked on Donald Trump after a White House dinner shooting incident, underlining the closely watched nature of the trip.
King Charles and Queen Camilla are due to continue their Washington programme with further ceremonial events and engagements, with the visit expected to keep generating headlines as new images and footage circulate.
