Blake Lively Backs Justin Bieber After Coachella Criticism
Ms. Blake Lively has spoken out in support of Justin Bieber after his back-to-back Coachella 2026 headline performances drew heavy online criticism, with some viewers questioning his approach during the first weekend. The actress posted her reaction on Instagram on Sunday, framing the conversation around empathy for public figures who have been in the spotlight since childhood.
Reposting a clip from Instagram user djangodegree, Ms. Lively echoed the account’s comparison of Bieber’s fame to “The Truman Show”, and Page Six reported that she wrote: “So many people we loved have been hurt and never come back to themselves.”
In her Instagram Story, Ms. Lively added that the public often looks back with sympathy “too late”, arguing that some of an entertainer’s most painful moments are treated as spectacle. She also wrote that “seeing @lilbieber meet that with healing was stunning”, referring to the singer’s Coachella appearances.
Ms. Lively’s comments arrive as she remains in the public eye because of her legal dispute with Justin Baldoni, which has previously intersected with wider celebrity chatter, including Britpop News reporting on the separate attention around Taylor Swift’s name in the case.
Bieber, 32, was criticised after weekend one when he performed portions of his set using a laptop to cue snippets of hits, while weekend two reportedly included guest appearances including SZA, Big Sean and Sexxy Redd, as well as a moment with Billie Eilish during “One Less Lonely Girl”. The online conversation around both sets has remained intense, but Ms. Lively’s post aimed to shift attention toward the toll of lifelong visibility.
