Britney Spears Enters Out-of-State Treatment Indefinitely
Britney Spears has entered an out-of-state treatment facility “indefinitely”, according to a new report that says the pop star agreed to get help after her sons intervened following her March DUI arrest.
NewsNation reported that Ms. Spears travelled out of California this weekend to a facility that addresses both addiction and mental health, after her sons, Jayden and Sean, “put their foot down” and insisted she seek treatment.
The report quotes a friend saying Ms. Spears had been resistant to entering a facility because she feared losing her freedom again, referencing the 13-year conservatorship that followed her 2008 breakdown and ended in 2021. NewsNation said her representative described the March DUI incident as “unfortunate” and “completely inexcusable”, and confirmed she planned to take steps to comply with the law with support from loved ones.
The latest claims come as Ms. Spears has faced ongoing legal scrutiny since the arrest, with Britpop News previously reporting on her expected court appearance after the DUI charge.
NewsNation also suggested Ms. Spears could remain in treatment for “a while”, and said the decision may affect her May 4 court date, which could be postponed or resolved through a plea. The outlet reported that the facility is not in California and is intended to provide more structured care than high-end centres that, a friend claimed, can feel like “five-star hotels”.
Ms. Spears has not publicly confirmed the report. Any change to her court schedule would be handled through legal proceedings in the coming weeks.
