Oasis join record British intake into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Oasis have been named among the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, as the institution announced a record number of British acts in this year’s class, adding another major US honour to the Manchester band’s legacy.
BBC reported that six British acts are included among eight inductees, with Oasis joined by Iron Maiden, Sade, Joy Division/New Order, Phil Collins and Billy Idol.
The report noted that Liam Gallagher has previously dismissed the Hall of Fame, but responded on X with a string of jokes after the announcement, including a post telling one follower he was “not too good for it after all” and replying: “Nope.” He also suggested he would apologise to organisers “for my ignorance” and later thanked voters, writing that it was “a real honour”.
Oasis are being inducted the year after what the BBC described as their biggest US tour, including two sold-out nights at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. In 2017, Noel Gallagher told Rolling Stone that while the Cleveland museum was “a great place”, accepting the honour “won’t be happening,” adding that he “certainly” thought he deserved to be inducted.
The induction ceremony is set for 14 November at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, with organisers expected to confirm in due course which members of each act will attend and take part in the event.
