King Charles Marks Queen’s Centenary at Sandringham
King Charles III is set to mark a major milestone for his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, with Sandringham taking a central role in centenary commemorations later this month. The King inherited the Norfolk estate after the Queen’s death in 2022, and a new public tribute is being rolled out there ahead of what would have been her 100th birthday on 21 April.
Sandringham has announced it will launch a free outdoor exhibition in the Sandringham Arboretum that traces the late Queen’s life and her longstanding connection to the estate, Hello Magazine reported.
The estate previewed the exhibition trail in a nature-themed Instagram reel, showing garden displays and signposts placed along a sandy path, each highlighting milestones from the Queen’s childhood through her 70-year reign. In a caption accompanying the post, organisers said the showcase explores both global events of her reign and the personal imprint she left on her Norfolk home.
The exhibition forms part of a wider programme expected to involve senior royals during the week of the Queen’s centenary, with a Buckingham Palace reception planned on her birthday. The guest list is expected to include charities and organisations associated with Elizabeth II, as well as some UK citizens who also turn 100 on 21 April. Against that backdrop, Prince Andrew’s continued life on the Sandringham estate has remained a separate focus of public attention.
According to the report, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is not believed to be attending any centenary events, following his arrest in February on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and the stripping of his titles last October.
