Liam Gallagher Buys Cotswolds Manor Near Roman Temple
Liam Gallagher has bought a new country manor in the Cotswolds, with reports placing the Oasis singer’s purchase at about £4.2 million and highlighting the property’s proximity to an ancient Roman temple site near Cirencester, Gloucestershire.
The Sun reported that Gallagher’s five-acre home sits next to Hailey Wood Camp, a temple complex dating back to around 100AD that was first identified by previous owner Major William Daubney.
The report said the archaeological site has been buried since the 1980s after being plundered for coins and other metal objects, and noted claims that seven lead “curse tablets” were found there—items Romans used to appeal to the gods to place a jinx on an enemy.
The property itself is said to include a swimming pool, tennis courts, stables and a two-bedroom cottage, and the newspaper added that Gallagher bought it in December from former England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams. The move follows recent attention on the singer’s public profile, including his tributes to a Manchester music figure shared earlier this year.
Gallagher has previously spoken about his interest in local history while travelling, and the Cotswolds location appears to offer him plenty of heritage on the doorstep as he settles into the new home.
