Princess Kate Curtsies to King Charles at Easter

Catherine, Princess of Wales, was photographed greeting King Charles with a quick curtsy as the royal family gathered for Easter Matins at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, on Sunday. The appearance saw the Princess arrive alongside Prince William and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, in a public moment that highlighted royal protocol at one of the family’s most traditional annual services.

Arriving at the chapel entrance, Catherine executed what Hello Magazine described as a “blink-and-you’ll-miss-it” curtsy as the King and Queen Camilla approached and greeted family members and the Dean of Windsor, the Right Reverend Dr Christopher Cocksworth.

According to the report, Catherine stood with Prince William, their children, and James, Earl of Wessex, as the monarch arrived, while Prince Edward bowed his head in greeting. The article also said King Charles paused on his way into the chapel to affectionately tap seven-year-old Prince Louis on the shoulder before the family filed inside.

The gesture is part of established etiquette, with women traditionally curtsying to the monarch on first meeting during an event. Recent attention has also focused on the King’s public engagements, including commentary around tensions linked to his reported Washington visit as royal duties continue to be closely watched.

The Easter service remains one of the few occasions each year when multiple branches of the family are seen together, and Sunday’s brief exchange offered another glimpse of the formal traditions that still shape royal appearances.
