Meghan Markle Retreat Faces Fan Backlash
Meghan Markle’s upcoming Sydney “girls’ weekend” retreat has been hit by controversy after a report claimed an online Sussex supporter who has shared inflammatory posts about the Princess of Wales is among those saying they have secured a place.
Daily Mail reported that an Australian X user who goes by the handle @ZandiSussex said she had obtained a VIP ticket to the $3,000-a-head “Her Best Life Retreat” in Sydney on April 17–19, claiming her table would receive a photo with the Duchess of Sussex.
The report highlighted previous posts from the same account alleging, without evidence, that Catherine, Princess of Wales’s cancer was “fake”, and said two other social media users have also publicly claimed they were accepted to attend the event at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach.
Daily Mail said it is not suggesting the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are aware of the false claims or endorse them, and noted that the guest vetting process for the retreat is unclear, with organisers contacted for comment.
The furore comes amid broader attention on the Sussexes’ connections to Australia, including earlier Britpop News reporting on security questions around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Australia trip following public debate over how their visit would be funded.
Any response from organisers or representatives for the Duchess of Sussex may shape how the retreat is perceived as the April dates approach, particularly if further details emerge about how attendees are selected.
