Miley Cyrus slips RuPaul phrase into Disney special
Miley Cyrus appeared at a Hannah Montana 20th anniversary event for Disney Plus, where she made a cheeky reference that viewers said sailed past censors during an on-stage interview. The moment has sparked fresh chatter online as fans rewatch the special and pick out the singer’s more grown-up jokes during the celebration of her breakthrough series.
During a segment with podcast host Ms Alex Cooper, Cyrus answered a question about what helped her stand out to Disney by saying: “Well, the charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent,” The US Sun reported, noting the phrase is widely associated with RuPaul and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The report said the anniversary special also included a performance of “Best of Both Worlds” and a reunion moment with Cyrus’ father Billy Ray Cyrus. It added that Cyrus made playful remarks about Cooper on stage, calling her a “superfan” and joking that it was “creepy” they are neighbours.
The Cooper exchange echoed another gag from the night, when she joked Alex Cooper was ‘creepy’ at the premiere while discussing how they first met and where they live.
The special forms part of Disney’s wider nostalgia push around the show’s milestone, and Cyrus’ comments underline how the former child star continues to balance Hannah Montana memories with her adult public persona.
