Report raises alarm over Britney Spears’ inner circle
Britney Spears has sparked renewed concern after a fresh report suggested people in her current inner circle have criminal backgrounds and may be exploiting her, as scrutiny continues in the wake of her recent arrest on suspicion of drink-driving.
The News International reported that a source speaking to Radar Online claimed “the crew Britney is surrounding herself with right now is incredibly shady” and alleged that “a lot of these guys have criminal histories”, including “known drug dealers”.
The report said the source claimed some of the people around the singer “want to make a buck off her” and warned that her arrest could “become much bigger than a DUI”. It also alleged Spears has become “very dependent” on the group and that “huge amounts of money” are being spent keeping them around.
According to the same account, friends are said to be worried about intervening “without some kind of protection”, with talk described as a “rescue operation” to remove Spears from what was characterised as a “dangerous and completely unsustainable” environment. In related coverage, Britpop News previously reported on new details emerging about Spears’ DUI arrest.
Spears has not publicly commented on the claims about her circle. The News International piece framed the allegations as coming from unnamed sources, and no independent evidence was presented in the report to substantiate the assertions.
