Prince Andrew pictured in bathrobe with Jeffrey Epstein in newly released file photo
A newly surfaced photograph released as part of U.S. Department of Justice files has reignited scrutiny of Prince Andrew’s past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, with the image said to show the former royal seated with Epstein during a trip to Martha’s Vineyard around the turn of the millennium.
Fox News reported that the photograph shows Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor barefoot and wearing a white bathrobe alongside British diplomat Lord Peter Mandelson while speaking with Epstein at a wooden table, with the DOJ describing it as taken in 1999 or 2000.
The outlet said Fox News Digital contacted representatives for Andrew and Lord Mandelson for comment, and cited a Buckingham Palace spokesperson as previously saying the Palace does not speak for Andrew because he is no longer a working royal. The report described the release as part of a continuing tranche of investigative material linked to Epstein, who died in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
In the UK, the Duke of York has faced renewed pressure in recent months, and the latest image follows earlier reporting in which a separate Epstein-era photo involving Lord Mandelson drew attention amid public debate about the Royal Family’s handling of the scandal.
Fox News said British authorities arrested Andrew in February on suspicion of misconduct in public office, with allegations he shared confidential trade information with Epstein while serving as a trade envoy. It reported that other UK police forces are also conducting inquiries into his ties to Epstein, including the Metropolitan Police reviewing whether London airports may have been used to facilitate trafficking, and contacting officers who may have served in protection roles during the relevant period.
