Prince William Explains Why He Skipped Kate’s Coffee
Prince William declined an offer of coffee from Catherine, Princess of Wales, during an unannounced visit to Borough Market in London on Thursday, with the moment drawing attention after the couple were filmed chatting with stallholders. The Prince and Princess of Wales toured the market to support local businesses and organisations linked to their charitable work.
At Change Please, a coffee stall that supports people experiencing homelessness through barista training, GB News reported that Catherine told her husband, “William, I made you a coffee,” to which he replied: “Is it decaf?” before adding: “It looks well made. They can sell it.”
The exchange was not treated as a snub, with the couple laughing about it during the stop. The report said Prince William no longer drinks coffee, having previously explained that caffeine can leave him “completely bananas” and “really agitated.”
The market visit included a stop with an award-winning family cheesemaker, where Prince William joked about “stinking bishop” while helping to cut and sell wedges of British cheddar, before the couple moved on to the coffee stall. The appearance also highlighted the Prince’s Homewards programme, which last year provided funding to Change Please to run an employability scheme in Northern Ireland. For more background on the couple’s early relationship, a previous Britpop News report noted Prince William and Catherine reunited at a party after a past breakup.
Royal engagements for the Prince and Princess of Wales have continued to focus on community initiatives and practical support, and their Borough Market stop was framed as part of that wider effort to spotlight British businesses and social programmes.
